This 1930’s charmer went from a white box to a modern interior filled with architectural character.

The homeowners bought this home soon after a contractor flipped it for a quick sale. The bones of the home were good, and the view is amazing on a clear day, but unfortunately the contractor also stripped the old house of any personality. The new owners wanted a modern & minimalist look, but the living spaces were lacking interest and definition.

Our solution: In the main living spaces we added a large fireplace in the living room, a partial wall to differentiate the two rooms, arched bookshelves and a floating bench in the dining room. Upstairs in the family room we added a built-in media cabinet to fill a 14-foot long nook. These architectural details dramatically transformed the space, but yet feel like they have always been there.

We partnered with a company called HDR Remodeling to build these architectural details. HDR Remodeling specializes in high-touch customer service and the homeowners were very impressed with their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction. All of those beautiful white oak elements are made from solid wood. Even the 14-foot piece on top of the family room cabinet. Thank you, HDR, for the beautiful work and being so nice to work with!
